Welcome to English 9!

Welcome to English 9! I am excited to be working with each of you this year. I know we will have fun together, and you will learn much about language and literature while you are here. We have spent the first couple of weeks getting to know one another, and reviewing some of the strategies we use to understand different types of text. Students wrote me a sample narrative, and also completed a reading assessment. Both of these are formative assessment pieces. (That means they are intended to help me, and you, know where you are at right now as far as your reading and writing are concerned, and they are not assignments that will receive a letter grade). Today, we spent time reading the poem, "To A Sad Daughter," and we did some INTENSE analysis of this piece! We did such amazing work, we didn't even make it through the entire poem. We will continue reading the poem on Friday, and we will complete art pieces to represent what we understand this poem to be about.
